Shakira Johnson
Adjunct Faculty
Shakira Johnson is an adjunct professor for Social Sciences and teaches courses including Diversity in the United States and Contemporary Social Problems. She lives in Manassas, Virginia and currently works full time for Prince William County Community Services, where she has been a supervisor for 13 years. She works with individuals within both the Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (ID/DD) population and other mental health diagnoses. She also works as needed at Fairfax Detox with Fairfax County Government. Most of her professional experience has always been split between the various populations.
Shakira’s teaching philosophy is to bring real-life experiences to her students so that they may integrate those skills and knowledge into their selected course of study. This perception has been shaped by both her personal and professional experiences that led her to teaching. Shakira is excited and honored to teach at Montserrat College of Art and looks forward to exploring with each and every student.
