Chair of Liberal Arts Division

“I want my students to make connections between what they read on the page and the larger world outside Montserrat’s walls. Understanding the nature and responsibility of free expression should be first and foremost for any artist.”

Additionally, she is the author of five award-winning novels for tweens: MODELS DON’T EAT CHOCOLATE COOKIES (Dial Books, 2009), THE TOTAL TRAGEDY OF A GIRL NAMED HAMLET (Dial, 2010), NOTES FROM AN ACCIDENTAL BAND GEEK (Dial, 2011) and MOXIE AND THE ART OF RULE BREAKING: A 14 DAY MYSTERY (Dial, 2013), which was a 2013 Edgar Award finalist.
