Elizabeth Cohen

Adjunct Assistant Professor

Beth Cohen joined Montserrat’s faculty in 2013. She is an Assistant Professor in the Liberal Arts Department, where she teaches courses in the humanities. She has previously taught interdisciplinary courses that pair studio and liberal arts in Montserrat’s Studio for Experiential Learning and at Tufts University. Beth also works at Columbia University in the School of Professional Studies, where she helps faculty foster student engagement in online courses. She is an artist, filmmaker, and writer, and has worked as a producer for award-winning independent and experimental films. Her areas of research interest include the ways that mourning and trauma are performed in public spaces and in the media.

Education: B.A. Bennington College, English Literature and Visual Arts; M.F.A. School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Film, Video, New Media, and Animation.
