Montserrat College of Art senior August Packard is traveling to Amsterdam, Netherlands for Blender Conference 2026!

After learning about faculty member Dirk Tiede`s experience at the conference last year, August spent the summer applying for funding and received Montserrat College of Art`s Professional Development Grant to support their trip.

August`s junior year animation project, Eye Of The Needle, has been accepted into the Suzanne Awards film festival at BCON 26. Created during the spring 2026 semester using Blender 5.0 and Adobe After Effects, the film follows Guy, an adorable tomato pin cushion on a mission to clean up sewing pins set to Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor.

While at the conference, August hopes to advocate for a student category in future Suzanne Awards competitions to help bring more student work to the global stage.
