Experience an authentic acoustic performance at the legendary Carter Family Fold, explore contemporary galleries at the world-renowned Penland School of Craft, and catch a professional stage production at the historic Barter Theatre. You will also take in the magic of the International Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee, and savor modern Appalachian fine dining at celebrated local restaurants.

Throughout the trip, light and optional field journaling sessions will give you space to capture sensory observations and reflect on the local landscape and traditions. No prior writing experience is required.
