Welcome to your creative laboratory for language. The Writing Studio is here to support student artists as they navigate the essential practice of writing. Whether you are building an epic narrative for a graphic novel or refining an artist statement for a gallery, we provide the space and expertise to help you communicate with clarity and power.

Collaborative Support for the Creative Process

Writing is an extension of your artistic practice. Our staff—a mix of professional writers, faculty, and peer tutors—are here to help you at any stage of the journey:

  • Ideation: Understanding assignments and brainstorming stories, scripts, or poems.
  • Development: Building drafts and incorporating research.
  • Refinement: Learning how to revise, edit, and polish your unique voice.

Beyond the Essay: Specialized Services

We know that being a professional artist requires a specific set of writing skills. In addition to academic support, our tutors provide expert assistance with:

  • Artist & Project Statements: Clearly articulating your vision to the world.
  • Public Speaking & Critique Prep: Gaining confidence for presentations and oral defenses.

We offer support in the format that works best for you during the fall and spring semesters:

  • Appointment Options: Choose from in-person meetings, virtual sessions, or small group workshops.
  • Drop-In Hours: Perfect for quick questions or last-minute feedback.
  • Long-Term Growth: Sign up for weekly standing appointments or book a session as needed.

Fall 2026 Hours:

Book appointments during these hours based on availability. If an appointment is already booked during that time, it will not show as available. You can search for available appointments either by tutor or by preferred day/time.

  • Monday: 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m., 5 p.m.-9 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 12 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., 4 p.m.-9 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m., 5 p.m.-9 p.m.
  • Thursday: 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m., 7 p.m.-9 p.m.
  • Friday: 12 p.m.-3 p.m.

Walk-In Hours:

  • Tuesday: 4 p.m.-5 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Thursday: 7 p.m.-8 p.m.

If you can’t find a time that works for you on PickTime, we encourage you to visit during our walk-in hours. If none of these times work either, email us!
