Meet The Tutors

Colleen Michaels

Colleen Michaels is the director of the Writing Studio at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts, where she hosts the Improbable Places Poetry Tour, bringing poetry to unlikely places like tattoo parlors, laundromats, and swimming pools. Yes, in the swimming pool. Her poems have been published, anthologized, and commissioned as installations for The Massachusetts Poetry Festival, The Peabody Essex Museum, and The Trustees of Reservations. She serves on the board of trustees for the Beverly Public Library. She is the author of Prize Wheel (Small Bites Press,2023).

Julianna Thibodeaux

I’m a part-time assistant professor at Montserrat, having taught courses in art history (Italian Renaissance, Native American art) along with the core Humanities courses and several electives. I earned my BA from Indiana University and my MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College, where I discovered the joy of exploring a single idea across multiple art forms, a practice I continue today. As a native of both the Midwest and New England, the landscapes and mindsets of both are known to show up in my work. In addition to maintaining my creative writing and studio art practices, I am a long-time arts journalist and critic and teach creative writing at the community level. I particularly enjoy helping individuals meet their creative and/or academic goals, whether struggling to initiate a project or take it across the finish line – and all points in between!

Catherine Cardenas

I’m a senior with a concentration in Animation and Interactive Media and a minor in Entrepreneurship in the Arts. I offer insight into the research and analytic side of papers as well as proper formatting when it comes to informative/research/ or argumentative essays. I’m a firm believer in getting something done rather than nothing and asking the necessary questions to guide a person in the right direction.

Delilah Jaros

My name is Delilah, and I’m a junior with an interdisciplinary concentration and a minor in art education. The writing I work with is centered towards creative writing and argumentative pieces. So I work more with pieces surrounding personal opinion and or emotional/personal ideas. I enjoy helping with expressive creativity in writing and think it’s important to write down genuine feelings rather than just writing words to fit a page.
