Research Associate
Status: Full-time (37.5 hours per week), Exempt, On campus or hybrid
Salary range: $62,000-$68,000 (annual), Benefits-eligible
Summary
The Research Associate at Montserrat College of Art is someone who understands that the most important step in coming up with answers is knowing the right questions to ask. This is a new role at the College and will require someone who is experienced enough in higher education and comfortable enough with ambiguity to help define the role with us. This successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators in the collection, analysis, interpretation, and application of the College’s institutional data in support of external reporting requirements and internal planning and assessment needs. The ideal candidate will understand the complex interaction between people, systems, and data and will work to ensure that the College is effectively and strategically making the best use of its existing data and, concurrently, identifying gaps in that data.
Duties will include:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret institutional data, ensuring its accuracy and relevance.
- Lead institutional survey efforts, build, and manage data analysis and reporting dashboards, and support the development and tracking of key performance indicators for the College.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of statistical models to forecast trends and support strategic planning utilizing statistical analysis and data management software.
- Collaborate with leadership and departments to understand their data needs and ensure data integrity.
- Support the development of surveys and other data collection tools.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations for higher education data reporting.
- Serve as a major partner and contributor in the College’s accreditation, assessment, retention, and reporting efforts.
Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, education, mathematics, information technology, statistics, social science, or a related discipline required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in institutional research, institutional effectiveness, or data-analysis and planning required. Experience with institutional research in education preferred.
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis, data management software, and data visualization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment.
- Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload with sensitivity and confidentiality.
- A combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position will be considered.
