Winslow Funaki

Adjunct Assistant Professor

“As an educator, my goal is to do for my students what my best teachers have done for me: challenge their ideas, expand their thinking, and bring them into a wider community of makers. While all of these things have made me a better artist, they have also made me a more empathetic, concerned, and respectful person in the world at large, something I hope to replicate for my students.”E. Winslow Funaki is a maker and educator whose work spans sculpture, furniture design, and video. As a reflection of her own mixed identity, she creates in-between objects that resist categorization. She holds a BFA in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design, attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2016, and completed her MFA in Furniture Design at RISD in 2020. Her work has been exhibited in venues including Special Special in New York, the RISD Museum and Brown University in Providence, RI, and the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, WI.
