The Wosepka Family Scholarship Fund
With an unwavering belief in the significance of art and design education, Kent founded the Wosepka Family Scholarship Fund in 2019. This endowed fund will exist in perpetuity, honoring Kent and his loved ones and ensuring his dedication to an accessible education will continue to impact Montserrat students for generations to come. We welcome those close to Kent to honor his memory with a gift in his name.
Remembering Kent Wosepka
Throughout the history of Montserrat, there have been a select number of individuals who have truly impacted the mission of the institution and inspired our future. One of these remarkable individuals was Kent Wosepka. It was with tremendous sadness that we said goodbye to our friend and Board Chair, this past year, who tragically passed away after a bicycle accident on October 31, 2021. And while Kent left us far too soon, our community understands what an incredible gift it was to receive the support and care of this extraordinary individual, who exemplified Montserrat’s values of creativity and empathy.
For those who were lucky enough to know Kent, his enthusiasm and passion for life were undeniable. Among his North Shore community, Kent applied this passion to the causes he loved, supporting the region through his philanthropy and generosity of spirit. As Montserrat’s Board Chair, Kent had the remarkable ability to project not only leadership and determination but also genuine kindness and care for our campus community. During his years as a Trustee, Kent ushered forward transformative initiatives of our strategic plan, helped directly grow our endowment by initiating a new investment policy, and established the Wosepka Family Scholarship Fund to ensure art and design education would remain accessible for all.
In appreciation for his contributions as a board member and advocate, Montserrat College of Art has partnered with Essex County Greenbelt, another nonprofit close to Kent’s heart, to celebrate his memory with a special event on October 1, 2022. This event will begin with a walk in Chebacco Woods, honoring Kent’s love of the outdoors. This will be followed by an exhibition reception at Montserrat showcasing Kent’s own work as an accomplished painter.
Our community understands how fortunate we were to call Kent a friend, and we will carry on his example of leadership and quiet strength as we build upon the impact he has made. We know that each step we take towards the great future of our institution will be built upon his vision and commitment to our mission.
