Move-In Weekend 2023

It’s the beginning of a new academic year at Montserrat College of Art. The college welcomed the Class of 2027 to campus on Saturday, August 26^th during a warm and energetic move-in day. The 77 new students come from 18 states; families drove from as far as Texas and Louisiana to see their freshman artists installed into the college’s apartment-style dormitories. International students, arrived on campus the same day, flying in from India and Brazil.

The weekend was full of welcome activities, snacks, gifts, and introductions. It concluded, as it does every year, with Montserrat’s annual Paint Wars. Members of the freshman class, their Resident Assistant’s, and Montserrat staff (including Interim President Brian Pellinen) descended on Dane Street Beach with white t-shirts and squirt guns full of water-soluble paint. Fifteen minutes of colorful chaos later, President Pellinen’s Tyvek suit more resembled a tie-dye suit.
