Montserrat College of Art Earns High Rankings in U.S. News & World Report and the National Pride Index
BEVERLY — Montserrat College of Art has been recognized as one of the top colleges in the region by U.S. News & World Report, earning high rankings in the publication’s 2024 Best Colleges issue.
In addition, the college has been recognized by the National Pride Index near the top of its rankings for inclusiveness for its LBGTQIA+ population. Montserrat has received a four out of five stars.
The US News and World Report Best Colleges Issue, released Monday, ranks Montserrat in 11th place in Top Performers on Social Mobility category and 18th place for Best Regional Colleges (North) category. These rankings reflect the college’s continuing improvements in graduation rates and overall student success.
Interim President Brian Pellinen said, “I love that Montserrat is being recognized by these national organizations for what we’ve all known for a long time. At Montserrat we value each other for the individuals we are, and that valuing, that recognition, leads to incredible success.”
Montserrat offers 12 concentrations, five minors and several travel options to help students become accomplished artists, designers and art educators, and good citizens of our nation due to their ability to be open to different voices, artistic mediums and styles, and diverse cultures.
The U.S. News’s rankings for Top Performers in Social Mobility category made its debut in the report’s 2020 Best Colleges issue. It recognizes institutions for advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of students awarded Pell Grants.
U.S. News groups colleges into categories based on the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, which it calls the most widely accepted classification system in U.S. higher education. The report bills itself as the top peer benchmarking and performance assessment tool in higher education.
