Boston-based artist Rosie Ranauro’s work is a visual exploration of process, defined not by fixed outcomes, but by the dynamic interplay between creation and concealment. What remains hidden becomes a space for speculation, imagination, and personal interpretation.
OBSCURE//REPEAT is a series of unstretched canvases painted on both sides, with one side obscured from the viewer. Through its three-dimensional presence, the canvases become evocative of the physical body, one which moves between states of transition and rest. By concealing parts of the canvas, Ranauro also withholds portions of the narrative from the viewer, asking the question, ‘what does it mean to be understood?’
Rosie Ranauro lives and works in Boston, MA, and holds a BFA in Painting from Massachusetts College of Art and Design ’11. She has shown locally and internationally and is currently an artist in residence at the Boston Center for the Arts.
