Teaching Assistant for Form and Space – Spring 2026

Status: Hours needed each week: 9

Salary range: $15/hour

Assist faculty in Form and Space class, the applicant does not need to be a Sculpture or GTP concentrator and the applicant should understand the relationship and value of 2D and 3D making.
Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Serve as a secondary teaching instructor in class, must be available (Mon/Wed 8:20-11, Mon/Wed 3:40-6:20, or Tues/Thurs 3:40-6:20) during the semester with 5-10 hours of planning before the start of the semester.
  • Work with the faculty on the delivery of the course content and assist students with assignments as needed
  • Prepare the instructional space for classes on a weekly basis, making sure the necessary course materials and equipment are prepared, and the classroom is organized and set up for instruction.
  • Prepare materials for demos, take video recordings of demos, and upload them to the course Canvas for students to refer to later
  • Help prepare and manage the course Canvas site and other course materials.
  • Assist students with learning and troubleshooting process and projects, in particular with using power tools, mixing plaster, etc, to ensure safety.
  • Mentor and guide first-year students who are adjusting to college/art school
  • Be a resource for students outside of class (peer-to-peer tutoring style)

Requirements:

  • Uphold a professional and respectful demeanor 
  • Attend at least 2 TA workshops throughout the semester
  • Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior, 3.0 or higher GPA, and previously taken Form and Space OR Studio I and Studio II

Working Conditions/Physical Demands: 

Must be comfortable in the Sculpture Shop and understand safe working practices when using wood shop tools. May occasionally need to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs.
