CTS Student Technician 2025-26

Reports to: Director of IT

Status: Estimated hours per week: 6-12 Expected Duration of Job: Begin start Fall ‘25 semester. Positions Open: 3

Salary range: $15.00/hr

Summary: A CTS Student Technician will learn and hone useful technical skills while obtaining their degree at Montserrat. The right candidate will find themselves learning the technical workings of the college, including, but not limited to, network infrastructure, managed computer deployment, printing and printer maintenance, computer software and hardware troubleshooting, and web development.

Prior skills in tech are not required, but an interest in it is. On-the-job training will be provided.

In this position, you’ll gain technical experience that will benefit you greatly in your professional career.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assessing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving assigned tickets.
  • Creating and assigning ticket requests received via walk-in, phone, or e-mail.
  • Running software updates and installing software on clients’ devices.
  • Facilitating the loaning and return of technology to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Addressing on-site requests for technology needs in classrooms or in print labs.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of technology in labs and classrooms.
  • Following up on printing needs throughout campus, such as refilling toner, ink, and paper as needed.
  • Assisting fellow students and faculty with print needs.
  • Print monitor rotation in the new Digital Print Center
  • Other tasks will be assigned as needed.

Necessary Skills/Requirements:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer Service Skills assisting students, faculty and staff with tech needs
  • Knowledge of, or a desire to learn and develop, technical troubleshooting theory.
  • Self-motivation and a desire to keep technology on campus running smoothly.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Experience with macOS, Windows, and Adobe Creative Cloud a plus

Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Lift and carry materials up to 20 lbs. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer or assisting with events. Manual dexterity is required for tasks such as using a keyboard.
