Career Design Studio Assistant
Department: Career Design Studio
Reports to: Beth Price Morgan
Status: Days needed each week: 1-2; Total estimated hours per week: starting at 3 hours, opportunity to increase to 6 after training or next year
Salary range: $15/hour
Expected Duration of Job: Anytime during Fall 2025 / Winter 2026 through Spring 2026, with the option to continue during subsequent semesters. First-year students eager to work multiple years in this position are encouraged to apply.
Summary of Job: The Career Design Studio Assistant supports the Career Design Studio (including Internships, Mentoring, etc) with all programming initiatives. This position regularly researches and posts jobs and internships on MontserratWorks, writes and designs our weekly Career News emails, designs and posts posters and fliers for programming, and provides general administrative support to the department as needed. Training for this position is provided!
Duties:
- Design Career Design Studio event posters / images for emails
- Update Montserrat student body on available internships / jobs through Career Design Studio news emails, campus posters, and Discord
- Post jobs to MontserratWorks, our online job board
- Contribute to the welcoming and engaging atmosphere of the Career Design Studio during drop-in office hours.
- Connect with students who may be having a hard time finding a job or internship with the appropriate resources
- Learn best practices for resume/cover letter writing, portfolios, interviews, and searching for jobs/internships.
- Attend Career Design Studio events, connecting and engaging with other students, as well as assisting with event prep and clean up. (For example: Fresh Start Fair in September, Opportunity Fair in February, Mock Interviews, Employer Panels, Reflection Seminars, Info Sessions)
- Additional duties in support of the Career Design Studio as assigned
Skills + Experience:
- Comfortable with learning how to use administrative computer applications, spreadsheets and databases, WordPress, S’more, Asana, and Canva.
- Eager to learn and take ownership of a rotation of regular assignments.
- Strong communication, research, and writing skills.
- Enthusiasm to learn and engage with fellow students and employers.
- Organized and detail-oriented, able to work independently on tasks, and strong communication skills via email
- Positive attitude about supporting Montserrat students looking for jobs / careers.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
- Some event support and set up around campus / light cleaning and organizing in the Career Design Studio will be required.
- This is mostly a desk or classroom position that requires periods of sitting.
