Career Design Coach – Fall 2025

Department: Career Design Studio

Reports to: Beth Price Morgan, Assistant Dean of Academic & Career Services

Status: Days needed each week: 2-3; Total estimated hours per week: 6 hours/week; Number of Positions: 2 open; Expected Duration of Job: Fall 2025-Summer 2026, with the option to continue during subsequent semesters.

Salary range: $15/hour

Summary of Job: If you’ve ever successfully applied for and landed a job or internship, you can learn the skills to help others get jobs, too.  Learn how to design incredible resumes and cover letters, how to find and successfully land a job or internship, and how to design your career while working closely with Beth Price Morgan, Assistant Dean of Academic and Career Services. Then, we’ll train you how to help others do all of that, too! Depending on your schedule, you may also TA in one or both of our Pre-Internship classes in this role.

Duties:

  • Learn best practices for resume/cover letter writing, portfolios, interviews, and searching for jobs/internships
  • Learn basic career design coaching and internship/student work advising
  • Coach and advise students through the basic steps of the internship and job search process, and through career design exercises
  • Give students feedback on their application materials (resumes, cover letters, portfolios, practice interviews) during INT200 and drop-in / scheduled meetings in the Career Design Studio
  • Update Pre-Internship courses and Montserrat student body on available internships through announcements, weekly emails, and Discord
  • Connect with students who may be having a hard time finding a job or internship
  • Attend Career Design Studio events, connecting and engaging with other students, as well as assisting with event prep and clean up. (For example: Fresh Start Fair in September, Opportunity Fair in February, Mock Interviews, Employer Panels, Reflection Seminars, Info Sessions)
  • Post jobs to MontserratWorks and communicate with employers via email and on site visits about job opportunities
  • Contribute to the welcoming and engaging atmosphere of the Career Design Studio during drop-in office hours.
  • If available, regularly attend and assist with at an INT200: Pre-Internship course
  • Additional duties in support of the Career Design Studio as assigned

Skills + Experience:

  • Positive attitude about your own job / internship search process, and at least one successfully applied for job in the past
  • Enthusiasm to learn and engage with fellow students and employers
  • Detail-oriented, able to work independently on tasks, and strong communication skills via email
  • Comfortable learning how to use spreadsheets, databases, and other office administrative applications/tasks

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Some event support and set up around campus / light cleaning and organizing in the Career Design Studio may be required.
  • If interested, you may travel to internship / off-campus work sites to take photos and interview student employees.
  • This is mostly a desk or classroom position that requires periods of sitting.

Career Design Coaches will learn to:
