Student Katie Perrotta Engineers Holiday Display for the Cabot
Montserrat student Katie Perrotta (’26) recently finished up her internship at the Cabot Performing Arts Center with the completion of their Polar Express event this past Sunday.
Perotta began her internship with The Cabot on October 1st. Her assignment at the theater was to create an immersive experience that would transport visiting children and their families to the titular Polar Express during the event at the theater, which took place this past Sunday.
Per Jen Gonyea at The Cabot, Perotta “dove into the project with enthusiasm, starting by watching the film and presenting a thoughtful, creative plan. Together, we reviewed her ideas in our space, mapping out what was possible. Throughout the project, Katie demonstrated excellent organization and clear communication.”
Using fabric, paper, and snow patterns sprayed onto the theater windows, Perotta brought the train to live. She also spread twenty-two small elves throughout the theater entrance and lobby. For the transition piece that families passed through to go from the “train car” to the winter wonderland, she used hanging garlands and spray-painted Styrofoam.
Below, enjoy an interview with Perrotta conducted by fellow student Kiana Rodriguez (’27).
