Honoring a Legacy: Jo Broderick Endowed Fund highlighted in Boston Globe
Jo Broderick and a fund created at the time of her retirement were featured in a recent article by Boston Globe correspondent Adam Sennott.
After 36 dedicated years, Montserrat College of Art celebrates the retirement of Jo Broderick, Chief of Staff/Dean of College Relations. To honor her significant impact and unwavering commitment to the college’s growth and students, Montserrat has established the Jo Broderick Endowed Fund.
Jo Broderick’s career at Montserrat began when the school was connected to the North Shore Music Theatre, and she played a pivotal role in its dramatic expansion to downtown Beverly. Rising through the ranks, she became a key leader, tirelessly working behind the scenes and representing Montserrat in the community. As she puts it, “To me, Montserrat has been a lifestyle, not a job. I have loved my 36+ years here.”
A deep believer in the power of Montserrat’s personalized, creative education, Broderick emphasized how it “changes lives.” She recalled countless students finding their path, including an alum from foster care who graduated with a job waiting, a testament to the college’s dedication to student success.
The newly established Jo Broderick Endowed Fund will provide crucial scholarships for students, ensuring her legacy of support continues for years to come. Montserrat College of Art will also match the first $50,000 in donations to the fund.
Her retirement was celebrated with a special ceremony where she received a citation from State Senator Joan Lovely, recognizing her profound contributions.
