Prof. Erin Dionne Releases Two New Books
Montserrat Professor Erin Dionne has not one, but two new books out this week!
The two books, part of a series entitled SHIVER-BY-THE-SEA, take place in a fictional Massachusetts town by the same name. They follow young Bella Gossi as she and her mom move back to her mother’s hometown. Bell discovers that Shiver-by-the-Sea “contains secrets, rusty magic, and a bunch of monsters that need her help.” The books are aimed at readers aged 7-9 and features illustrations by Jenn Harney.
The first book, Bella and the Vampire, follows Bella as she makes a batty discovery while helping her mother fix up the old movie theater in town. The second, The Were-Woof, concerns a shy, scruffy puppy who goes wild when the moon comes up. A third book is coming in the near future.
By Dionne’s own admission, Shiver is closely based on Beverly and Salem. A keen eye might spot the use of some Beverly references in Jenn Harney’s cover art for the second book. You can learn more about these books and their local locale at your local library, but those of us lucky enough to live in the Beverly/Salem area more fortunate.
Dionne will be at Copper Dog Books in Beverly on September 6th alongside middle grade and YA author Josh Roberts. Anyone who can’t wait that long might be able to catch her at Alice’s Little Haunted Bookshop in Mystic, CT from 2-4pm on August 13th.
