Adventure and trust unveiled through rhythms of speed, grace, and purpose; a soul painted onto canvas. A work in progress: my sister Carol. – Lynda Schlosberg
Parallels brings together two sisters who studied painting separately, and at very different times of their lives, yet share a visual language of thoughtfully layered patterns and repetitive mark making.
Distanced by circumstance and tragedy, the sisters were unable to influence each other’s work while it was being made. Carol makes paintings both topographical and dimensional, using pattern to describe form. They are at once, cosmic and ambitious while revealing subtle color shifts upon closer investigation. Lynda creates intricate and complex paintings that are inspired by quantum theories and philosophies. In the construction of her work, she utilizes a process of fragmentation and the language of abstract painting.
As the dictum states, “the work often says more than the artist knows” and in the case of the Schlosberg sisters, the work serves as a divine reflection of sisterhood and artistic expression.
