Colin McGuire is a painter and gallery owner from Provincetown, Massachusetts. He received his MFA from Lesley University College of Art and Design in Cambridge, and BFA from Montserrat College of Art. McGuire is represented by Harmon Gallery in Wellfleet, MA, Gallery Galleon in Vieques, PR, and McGuire Gallery in Provincetown, MA. McGuire’s paintings question what it means to be an American, and a human, in the modern world. His work develops from the narrative of early colonization which, in many ways, began on the shores of his hometown and painting muse, Provincetown. People wander, search, migrate, or gather in camaraderie against a void landscape. McGuire ponders: How can the issues we face today be reflected upon by examining the very foundation our civilization is built on? What does it mean to start anew, and at what cost is that possible?
