Summer 2025 Internship with Grow Native Massachusetts

Are you passionate about community engagement, sustainability, and creating garden habitat? Grow Native Massachusetts is offering a Summer 2025 Internship with a focus on native plants, art, sustainability, and community education and outreach. This is a unique opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience while working directly with the staff of Grow Native Massachusetts.

About the Internship

The intern will take on meaningful projects that contribute to Grow Native Massachusetts’ mission, including:

  • Assisting with our first ever art exhibit, “Native Plants & Northeast Ecosystems”- coordinating with contributing artists, welcoming and stewarding guests during the showing period (limited open hours TBD, June 25-August 15), facilitating sales/donations
  • Coordinating our Garden Plastic Recycling Program – Managing the collection and distribution of used plastic pots and trays, collaborating with partners like Van Berkum Nursery, and promoting the program to local communities.
  • Supporting Our Plant Sale and Demonstration Garden – Assisting with plant care, event preparation, and educational outreach.
  • Community Engagement & Outreach – Helping to spread awareness about our programs through public engagement opportunities, website content review, and writing.

Internship Details

  • Duration: Summer 2025 – flexible start and end dates, flexible weekly schedule, 100 total hours
  • Location: Grow Native Massachusetts, based in Lexington, MA
  • Compensation: $15/hour
Qualifications:
Applicants should have:

  • Strong interest in sustainability, native plants, art, gardening, nature, recycling.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, dedicated team
  • Enthusiasm for hands-on, outdoor work, and public engagement
