Summary

Are you passionate about creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning? The Town of Shrewsbury is seeking an enthusiastic Recreation Summer Art & STEM Specialist to lead engaging activities for campers during our 2025 Recreation Summer Program! This seasonal, full-time role runs from May to August 2025 and is perfect for someone who loves inspiring young minds through art and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

What You’ll Do

  • Design and lead interactive art and STEM activities tailored to different age groups.
  • Encourage creativity and problem-solving in a fun, hands-on learning environment.
  • Foster teamwork and confidence through engaging projects and experiments.
  • Ensure materials and equipment are prepared, maintained, and used safely.
  • Collaborate with other staff to integrate art and STEM into the broader summer experience.
  • Provide instruction and guidance, adapting activities to different learning styles.
  • Supervise participants to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience teaching or working with children in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of art techniques and hands-on STEM concepts.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt lessons to different learning styles and age groups.
  • CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before camp starts).
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet all regulatory requirements.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience in camps, classrooms, or informal education settings.
  • Familiarity with STEM tools, materials, and digital learning platforms.
  • A passion for engaging children in both creative and technical fields.
