Description:
The New Art Center is recruiting college level students to help support our bustling Summer Art Programs. This internship is ideal for students seeking internships in arts administration, program development, elementary education programs, and arts therapy. This is a non-paid position averaging 10-15 hours per week.

Duties to include:
Admin

  • Assist with student group sorting, creating rosters, student name tags, and distributing information to teachers and teaching assistants
  • Print coloring/activity sheets for breaks/extended day programs

Classroom Support

  • Assist with supervision of students in grades 1-6 during snack, lunch, outdoor recess, and extended day program
  • Opportunities to carry out short craft lesson plans with students

Overall Program Support

  • Assist with end of day dismissal of up to 60 students
  • Other tasks as needed
Qualifications:
Good communication skills including writing and computer work; applicants should have an interest in working with nonprofit organizations with a mission in arts education; open to alternative education backgrounds. Those with experience working in summer camp settings are strongly encouraged to apply.
