DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception: September 30\, 11am\, Library\nFaculty in Conversation artist talk: October 21\, 11am\, H101\n“Outside my studio\, I am often a spectator and a passive participant in endless flickering images on a digital screen. My eyes are infiltrated with intense short-wavelength blue light. Therefore\, facing a painting on paper in the studio\, I suddenly crave the paint’s color\, opacity\, weight\, and a sense of reciprocity. On the grid linear mesh\, I laboriously map my marks\, and they remind me of my hand movement and their touch on the surface.   \nThe diminutive paint marks can tirelessly repeat as they signify countless cells and fibers that make up my body. SUMMARY:Andrew Mowbray: New Heraldic Ordinaries
DESCRIPTION:Reception: Saturday\, October 17\, 3-5pm \nArtist Talk: Wednesday\, November 14\, 11-12pm \nMowbray uses Tyvek Home Wrap as the primary material in the construction of 2d works reminiscent of quilts and samplers\, using Tyvek’s limited palette to create a diverse array of patterns and compositions. In a new series created for the Schlosberg Gallery\, Mowbray uses this material in the construction of personal crests or heraldics as a commentary on economic and class inequality.

DESCRIPTION:Join Montserrat as we open our doors to celebrate the arts of the North Shore with a night of festivity\, creativity\, and a little mystery! \nThis exciting event will center around an anonymous art sale of 6×6” works\, featuring pieces by local artists as well as Montserrat faculty\, staff\, and students\, all sold for $100\, with artist names not revealed until after their purchase. \nBut the party doesn’t stop there!
