Position Description

Montserrat College of Art seeks a part-time, adjunct faculty member to teach Current Issues in Art Education, a required course in our Art Education Ed Prep program. This course provides the opportunity for students to explore current issues in education, including but not limited to exploring contemporary art, artists, and practices. Students develop a deeper understanding of critical and social issues and their impact on the Pre-K through 12 educational processes.

Guest lecturers form an integral part of the course and a variety of independent and group work related to the issues examined complete the course. Content areas explored recently included: Teaching Students with Disabilities, Social-Emotional, anti-bullying in the schools, supporting LGBTQ students, and leadership in education. The content is reviewed and updated annually. Content areas to be determined by the adjunct in coordination with the program director. 

Requirements

MAT, MA, MFA and/or K-12 teaching experience required. Three years higher education experience preferred. 

The applicants are expected to have knowledge of contemporary art and practice, and relevant teaching experience.

Additional Requirements

Position takes place in an educational environment; manual dexterity to use computers is required.
