Sign Up for a Weekend Workshop at Montserrat College of Art this Summer!

Come Make Art at Montserrat! Summer is here, and so is a fantastic lineup of Weekend Workshops! Montserrat’s Adult Continuing Education Program is hosting a weekend of creative workshops for artists of all levels on August 7th and 8th!

All workshops will be held in-person in our studio spaces at Montserrat College of Art, with social distancing measures in place. For questions about any additional safety measures, please contact ce@montserrat.edu

August 2021 COURSES

Drawing for Beginners – Weekend Workshop
Instructor: Jon Bolles

You can draw! This workshop will explore the most important aspect of drawing – the fundamentals – in a supportive environment. Artists of all levels are welcome.


Mixed Media Drawing and Painting – Weekend Workshop
Instructor: Maria Malatesta

This is a fun, hands-on class where exploration, staying open and “play” will be encouraged. Get ready to work with a variety of drawing and painting media, and learn how to integrate collage and photographic transfers into your work, too.

 


Anime and Manga Illustration Workshop: An Exploration of Style and Storytelling

Whether you’ve been a fan since Sailor Moon or started your journey with Demon Slayer, if you love drawing anime characters or want to learn more about the influence and the history of anime and manga, then this workshop is for you! (Recommended for students aged 16 and up.)

 


Cyanotype Sun Prints

Tuition: $225 (plus materials fee), non-credit only

Cyanotype, one of the first photographic printing processes, gives you the opportunity to experiment with image making. In this two-day workshop, we will hand-coat a variety of surfaces, make paper negatives, and design a collaborative fabric mural for processing on the beach. Artists of all levels are welcome and materials will be provided for a small materials fee; no prior experience is required!
