NOVEMBER 2021 COURSES
You can draw! Beginners welcome! This class will explore the most important aspect of drawing – the fundamentals! We will practice drawing in a studio setting while developing skills and techniques that can be applied to any subject matter.
Through the use of a variety of media, this class encourages the expression of personal ideas and vision.
We will begin drawing from observation and quickly move into the addition of various materials. You may choose to work in representation or abstraction or transform your drawing to include the imagined or remembered. We will use acrylic or other water-based paint.
Demonstrations of various ways to apply paint will be given. Drawing materials include charcoal, graphite, pastel. Bring what you like to work with! The addition of collage and photographic transfers may be integrated into the work.
This is a fun class where exploration, staying open and “play” will be encouraged.
Craft a working pinhole camera, process paper negatives In the darkroom and make photo-grams using found objects. We will also sepia tone and hand-tint our images using oil paint made for photographs.
No darkroom experience required. Bring a cardboard oatmeal container and found objects for collage.
