Mixed Media Painting | Spring 2019

Saturdays 10am – 1pm
Tuition: $325 non-credit only;

Through the use of a variety of traditional and nontraditional media, this class encourages the expression of personal ideas and vision. Students explore the use of many collage materials including papers, photographs, printed materials, maps and found objects. There will be demonstrations of various materials, grounds and ways to build texture and surface. Also included is an introduction to the process of encaustic wax and various techniques of image transfer. This class includes assignments that encourage new ways of thinking about your work. Exploring the Medium of Pastel | Spring 2019

This course provides an encouraging, instructional and supportive environment in order to explore the medium of Pastel. In addition to learning about different types of pastels, papers and surfaces, students will have the opportunity to work from still life, photography and with a model. The class will explore pastel as a traditional drawing medium as well as its relationship to painting (pastel as pure color used in a planar language.) Figure Drawing for Teens | Spring 2019

Teen figure drawing offers students the opportunity for weekly practice drawing from clothed models. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the proportions of the human figure and practice techniques such as gesture, sighting & measurement and value drawing. Oil Painting | Spring 2019

In this painting class we will discuss the materials of painting, including supports, brushes, mediums and qualities of paint. Students will practice color mixing, value scales and learn different ways of applying paint. With still life as our subject, we will explore composition, space, color and light. Introduction to Digital Photography | Spring 2019

In this eight week course, we will learn the ins and outs of the digital camera and how to make images look professional. You will learn the basics of your digital camera and acquire the skills to control exposure and focus with the camera’s available tools. Topics covered will include exposure and metering, composition and design, portraits and posing, adjusting and editing images in Photoshop to fix common problems, and plenty of practical tips on how to make your pictures more appealing.
