Painting Monitor – Fall 2025

Reports to: Joseph Saunders

Status: Hours needed each week: Monday–Thursday 7:30–8am, 11:10am–12pm, Friday 3:30–4pm Multiple shifts per week and some weekend; Term: Fall Semester 2025, with the possibility of extension through Spring 2025 Semester

Salary range: $15/hr

Summary: Painting Monitors assist the Painting and Drawing faculty in setting up classrooms as well as helping the supervisor keep classrooms and prop closets clean and organized.

  • Follow opening and closing procedures and oversee the sign-in and sign-out of all students in the classrooms after hours.
  • Complete proper checklists of nightly monitor duties along with shift-specific duties.
  • Assist Faculty with setting up classrooms along with still lifes and keeping classrooms cleaned and organized.
  • Check and maintain easels, and other classroom furniture that might need repairs. 
  • Check and maintain H204,H203,H303,H302 and H301 Junior Painting studios along with the prop closet 
  • Observe emergency procedures based on events. 
  • Other duties may be assigned
  • Must communicate well with the supervisor about issues or anything that arises in space.

  • Ability to work independently and with faculty 
  • Learn to manage a studio space and equipment
  • Takes ownership of work duties and responsibilities, and ensures they are completed accurately and on time.
  • Students will build confidence in the skills and experiences related to their monitored work environment.
  • Proficiency in organization, and classroom management.
  • Diagnose technical problems through minor testing and troubleshooting.

The Painting Studios prioritizes inclusivity and the ideal candidate is committed to making the Studio a safe space for all Candidates MUST be willing to ask questions when they don’t know or understand something. Monitors must feel comfortable enforcing rules and procedures among their peers. 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands: able to lift 20–40lbs

Number of Positions: 2–3 open positions Painting and Drawing concentrator strongly preferred.
