iCON Event Assistant

Status: 4–6 hours/week

Expected Duration of Job: Summer & Fall

Job Summary:

Working closely with the iCON2024 event coordinators to help execute tasks before, during, and after the iCON2024 show. iCON 2024 is taking place on Nov 16, 2024. The assistants will help with various tasks. Such tasks may include helping to create and post marketing materials, joining weekly meetings, moderating the Discord Server, setup and breakdown of event equipment, communicating with sponsors, vendors, and volunteers, and other possible assistive tasks. We are looking for someone with a willingness to engage with the community, exercising good communication skills. We are especially interested in individuals who are enthusiastic about collaboration and working alongside a team.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Maintain communication with Event Coordinators and attend weekly/bi-weekly meetings.
  • Assist Event Coordinators with professional-level communication with local businesses and sponsors.
  • Assist with assorted responsibilities during the event, including (but not limited to) maneuvering equipment, guiding visitors and assisting volunteers.
  • Help create and post marketing materials for various community assets before and after the event.
  • Help moderate Community tools such as the iCON Discord Server and Instagram account.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Must be able to maneuver event equipment. Will require lifting, folding and moving tables (40lbs), picking up chairs, and carrying signage short distances. Workers should expect to be mobile the day of the event, which may include increased elevator or stair usage in order to proactively organize agenda items.
Workers may need to travel locally to businesses in downtown Beverly and Salem on some occasions.
