Wildly Silent: Kristine Roan Art Opening

January 12, 2012

Recent Montserrat alumna Kristine Roan ‘11 has a Wildly Silent: Kristine Roan Art Opening Saturday, Jan. 14 at 7pm at Atomic Cafe on Cabot Street in Beverly.

THE ARTIST: Kristine Roan is currently living and working in Beverly. She is exhibiting work that she made during her month-long residency on the tiny island of Hrísey, (population: 200) in northern Iceland.“Iceland for me, represents an openness in both its landscape and beliefs,” said Roan, “And being on an island lends itself to the themes in my work.”

THE GALLERY: “At the Atomic Gallery we are interested in pushing the boundaries of one’s expectations. We feel that bringing together local artists, taking advantage of our proximity to Montserrat College of Art and Gordon College and their galleries, and bringing in artists from Boston and beyond New England could have a profound effect on the community.” – Valerie Rafferty, Atomic Gallery Curator

THE COMMUNITY: The event will also be collecting donations of canned/dry good items which we will be donating to Beverly Bootstraps.
