Travis Dandro (’96) Receives Rave Reviews for His Graphic Novel

Published: December 3, 2019

Alum Travis Dandro’s graphic novel receives rave reviews from the Portland Herald Press (Maine). Dandro graduated from Montserrat in 1996 with a BFA in Fine Arts. His graphic novel King of King Court recounts his childhood and the difficulties that he faced. It tells the story of his childhood with a “heroin-addled and semi-present father, a distant stepdad and an overwhelmed mother who can’t pull her family from a downward spiral” (Keyes, 2019). He wrote the entire 464 page book in less than two years, drawing during the nights when he was awoke by his anxiety and spiraling thoughts. If you would like to read the book, a copy of it can be checked out of Montserrat’s library. Read the article here.
