The ART Drive 2013: August 10 & 11

June 3, 2013

The ART Drive is back for its sixth annual open studio weekend–August 10 and 11 from 10 am to 5 pm in Dartmouth and Westport, MA.
Featuring more than thirty professional artists, the ART Drive is the premier regional event for art lovers, buyers and collectors.

The event is known for its diversity of art and artists and includes painters, ceramic artists, photographers, jewelers, woodworkers and others. The ART Drive places unique emphasis on a consistent and high level of professionalism and quality while giving visitors the opportunity to meet the artists, engage in discussion, and watch demonstrations in distinctive and unusual studio settings.

Visitors choose the artists and studios they wish to visit and set their own schedule along a scenic 15-mile route through the Southcoast communities of Dartmouth and Westport.
In addition, each year the ART Drive features an annual exhibit celebrating a particular species of fish known to the area. Each participating artist starts with a four foot long fish-shaped form and applies his or her own creativity and style to design a unique work of art. This year’s featured fish is the Cod, a species with a rich historical and economic importance to the region. The fish are auctioned off during the event with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Lloyd Center for the Environment.

The 36 large, colorful fish will be on display at the Dartmouth Historical and Arts Society, 1205 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, MA throughout the event. Visitors can view and bid on the fish in person or on eBay.
