January 17, 2013

Mass Reality Check @ Salem Film Fest, is an exciting opportunity for Massachusetts college and university undergraduate and graduate students working in short documentary and short experimental documentary form to screen their work alongside the feature length documentaries by professional filmmakers programmed at Salem Film Fest, Massachusetts’ largest all documentary film festival, which takes place March 7-14, 2013 in Salem, MA. Senior thesis films will also be accepted.

This initiative is a unique way to nurture young filmmaker talent in Massachusetts, while at the same time affirm their roots as a Massachusetts film festival. Additionally, The LEF Foundation,Documentary Educational Resources, The Independent and North Shore Art*Throb have all agreed to collaborate on this new program. As part of an awards package, representatives from these groups will meet with winning filmmakers after the festival to give advice about film making as a career and provide insights into funding, distribution as well as other professional considerations.
