The Rocky Neck Cultural Center in Gloucester, MA is hosting an art exhibit titled Synthesis featuring Montserrat College of Art and Endicott College faculty and students, Sept. 26 – Oct. 20. The Public Reception will take place Saturday, Oct. 5, 3 – 5 pm at The Rocky Neck Art Colony, 6 Wonson Street, Gloucester, MA.

The show will feature the works of Endicott College faculty members Barbara Burgess Maier, Diane Girardi, Carol Pelletier, Cynthia Roberts, Dean, Mark Towner and Larry Volk. Montserrat College of Art faculty exhibiting are Rebecca Bourgault, Ron DiRito, Mark Hoffmann, Masako Kamiya, Fred Lynch, Brian Savignano, Marilu Swett, Stacy Thomas-Vickory and Jesse Kahn.

Students from both colleges will also have their works on view. This will be third year for the joint Montserrat-Endicott show at Rocky Neck, formerly held on a weekend at the Goetemann Residency Studio and now expanded to a four-week exhibition at the Cultural Center. It is the first to include faculty from the two colleges.

The exhibition will include a variety of media including painting, photography, book arts, sculpture, illustration, graphic design and mixed media, and will be on both floors of the Rocky Neck Cultural Center.

Endicott College Chair of Fine Arts Carol Pelletier says “This is an excellent opportunity for students and faculty to showcase their work side by side. This exhibition represents our interconnectivity as artists which is a key component to what we call mentorship. This, along with the diversity of media and styles is a reflection of what we all do best, which is delivering an idea through visual means. The inner voice speaks of the context we live in, and in the end, we are still learning about ourselves and our work.”

Montserrat College of Art Chair of Photo and Video Ron DiRito said, “We are all very excited to be part of this collaborative exhibition that includes faculty and students from both Montserrat College of Art and Endicott College. The work from Montserrat showcases a faculty member from each of our nine concentrations. This is a great opportunity for both the students and community to see the varied and diverse approaches to art making that exists in both schools. This is a wonderful activity for everyone involved and it especially helps us connect very personally with our students, the emerging artists of tomorrow.”
