Kathy Archer & Barbara Moody
In this inaugural conversation, President Steinberg discusses the current state of the arts with acclaimed artists, curators, and pillars of the Montserrat Community, Kathy Archer and Barbara Moody.
Kathleen Gerdon Archer is a Painter/Photographer and the former owner of White Bird Gallery at the Rocky Neck Art Colony in Gloucester, Ma.
The artist is a member of many arts organizations including;
Kingston Gallery, Boston; The Goetemann Artist Residency, Program Director; The Rocky Neck Art Colony, Trustee; Ten Webster Street Artists Salon
Archer is an honors graduate of Montserrat College of Art with a BA in Painting, which has a profound influence on her photographic work. Archer’s work has been featured in international and regional shows including ACRV Italy, The Kingston Gallery Boston, The Danforth Museum, The Carney Gallery at Regis College and the Griffin Museum of Photography. She was also selected as a finalist for Photolucida’s Critical Mass awards
Barbara Moody earned M.Ed. and Ed.D. degrees from Harvard University, as well as a BFA from Syracuse University. She is a Professor at Montserrat College of Art, where she also served as Dean for nine years.
Over the past ten years, Barbara Moody has had six solo shows at Kingston Gallery in Boston. She recently completed two large-scale mural projects for a corporation in Fall River, MA, and completed a 27-foot wall drawing for Seven: A Performative Drawing Project at Montserrat College of Art. Her work has been included in exhibitions in California, New York, Minnesota, and Chicago, as well as the DeCordova Museum, Mills Gallery, and Albright Gallery in Massachusetts.
Together, over the summer of 2019 they founded the Float Gallery in Gloucester, MA.
