Montserrat and Essex County Greenbelt Honor Memory of Kent Wosepka
Last year we were forced, with tremendous sadness, to say goodbye to our friend and Board Chair, Kent Wosepka. Kent passed away tragically in a cycling accident last October, and while he left us far too soon, we will never forget the impact he had on the community of the North Shore while he was here. Kent applied his innate passion to causes he loved, supporting the region through his philanthropy and generosity of spirit. Kent shared with the college a profound commitment to creativity and empathy, and we feel a great responsibility to continue to celebrate and sustain those values into the future.
This year, Montserrat worked together with Essex County Greenbelt, another nonprofit close to his heart and on whose board he also served, to celebrate Kent’s memory. The October 1st event began with a mile walk in Chebacco woods to honor Kent’s love of the outdoors and was followed by a reception at Montserrat which showcased Kent’s own accomplished work as a painter.
Our community understands how fortunate we were to call Kent a friend, and we will carry on his example of leadership and quiet strength as we build upon the impact he has made. We know that each step we take towards the great future of our institution will be built upon his vision and commitment to our mission.
With an unwavering belief in the significance of art and design education, Kent founded the Wosepka Family Scholarship Fund in 2019. This endowed fund will exist in perpetuity, honoring Kent and his loved ones and ensuring his dedication to an accessible education will continue to impact Montserrat students for generations to come. We welcome those close to Kent to honor his memory with a gift in his name.
