Trustee January Gill O’Neil Realsing New Book of Poetry
Montserrat trustee January Gill O’Neil is releasing her fourth book of poetry!
Glitter Road is now available for pre-order through CavanKerry Press before hitting store shelves on February 6. Says O’Neil of the collection:
“This collection reflects on loss and new love against the backdrop of a season I spent in Oxford, Mississippi. While there, I was able to explore the history and legacy of Emmett Till, contemplating how his story is braided with mine, and how race binds us all together. These poems celebrate the vulnerability and resilience of womanhood, and reclaim life amid great transition through awakenings, landscapes, meanders, and possibilities.
Glitter Road’s cover is a map of the Mississippi River, one of 15 created in 1944 for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. Its vividly colored loops and complicated beauty feel emblematic of my own journey, as they consider how the river’s flow has changed over thousands of years.”
O’Neil will be traveling throughout February to promote Glitter Road, including a stop at Copper Dog Books on February 22nd.
In addition to serving on Montserrat’s Board of Trustees, O’Neil is an associate professor at Salem State University and served as the executive director of the Massachusetts Poetry Festival. Her previous three books, Rewilding (2018), Misery Islands (2014), and Underlife (2009) are also available through CavanKerry Press.
