The paintings by Montserrat’s Former Trustee and alumna Janice Colby ’94 are on exhibit in a show appropriately titled Delightful at the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Market Square in Newburyport from Aug. 8 through Sept. 4 (Wed – Sun, 12 – 5 pm). Colby will also be the featured artist at the Firehouse Center for the Arts during the Newburyport ArtWalk, Aug. 18 – 19.

Artist Reception: Saturday, Aug. 18, 4 – 6 pm. Free and open to the public.

Her paintings will also be featured at the Bird Key Yacht Club in Sarasota Florida through Oct. 9th!

Her paintings are as bright and happy as an August day in New England. The medium employed by the artist (acrylic on canvas) lends itself to the colorful explosion of feeling that lands on her canvas — there is an exuberance, a quickness to the work that adds to the breezy summertime quality conveyed in these paintings.

The whimsy and brightness of this artist’s colorful subjects will surely bring a smile to all who view Colby’s creativity so be sure to stop by and see the work of Janice Colby on exhibit at the Firehouse — all the work is for sale so you can take home a little bit of your summer vacation to last you through the long, cold winter!

Also, Former Trustee Linda Holt‘s exhibition at the Beth Urdang Gallery in Boston, has been extended through July 31.
