Elise Towle Snow Hosts Leatherworks Party at ArcWorks

October 11, 2012

ArcWorks Community Art Center’s new Gallery Shop Manager and alumna Elise Towle Snow ‘06 has been supervising this new program at ArcWorks called Together Leatherworks for the past three months. And now, the Together Leatherworks team is ready to throw a party to show off how far they have come and all the neat things that they have been working on! The party will be a chance to shop local and purchase ArcWork products as well as new designs from their friends at Shine Jewelry and Broomsquire. There will be a live acoustic musical performance by Clay Ventre and The Bond Girls (a great local band with a bluesy sound) and yummy cake. The event is also an opportunity to see the Family. Place. Home. show featuring the work of 27 local artists. This event is FREE & open to the public.

Together Leatherworks Party
Weds, Oct. 17, 5:30 – 7:30 pm

ArcWorks community Art Center
22 Foster St., Peabody, MA

A few months ago, ArcWorks Community Art Center received a generous donation of leather to use in our workshops,” said Towle Snow. “Shortly after receiving this donation, we received a grant from the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission to employ three young women with developmental disabilities as part of Northeast Arc’s Employment Services. The goal of the program was to foster teamwork, craft skills and business basics in this group and we decided it would be a great use of the leather to create a product line called Together Leatherworks.”

Peabody is known for it’s leatherworking history and Together Leatherworks is a modern line with a nod to the past. We use basic techniques and minimal designs to let the beauty and variety in the material make a statement. Together Leatherworks started because of a donation of materials and we are eager to show how we have found creative ways to use every little bit. From folded nesting boxes to bold jewelry designs made from our smallest pieces, the products we designed and created will add an artistic accent to your outfit or a warm touch to your home.”
