Color & Abstraction: Students Respond to Hans Hofmann – Reception
Color & Abstraction: Students Respond to Hans Hofmann
November 13, 5-8pm
Founders Gallery, 248 Cabot St, Beverly, MA
Hans Hofmann’s legacy is great and respected at the Montserrat College of Art. Not only were some of the founding faculty directly influenced by Hofmann, countless other faculty members hold his teachings and methods as canonical, and frequently incorporate them into their syllabi.
“Color and Abstraction” presents Student paintings, drawings, and sculptural objects that reflect or react to the tenants of Hofmann.
This exhibition was created thanks to organization by professors Diane Ayott, Judith B Brown, Tim Harney, and Masako Kamiya.
This reception is part of a multi-faceted affair celebrating the work of Ollie Balf, Montserrat emerging-artists’ work, and a critical conversation exploring the legacy of Hans Hofmann.
