Chris Pianka ’11 Interns with Nickelodeon

September 16, 2012

This summer, recent graduate Chris Pianka ’11 packed up and headed to Burbank, CA after he was chosen for an incredible opportunity to intern in the library at Nickelodeon Animation Studios!

At his orientation, the internship coordinator, Ashley Morley, explained that thousands of people from all over the world applied to the internship. Of those thousands, 30 were hand-picked by her to work at Nickelodeon. “Networking is essential in getting into the animation industry,” said Pianka.

Pianka decided to stay in California after the internship ended to make himself available for job opportunities. “Everyone employed at Nickelodeon all said the same thing: it’s all about who you know,” he reflected. “I had the chance to sit down with some of the biggest names in the animation industry, people who have had enormous influence on pop culture at its biggest scale…. These are the people who will help me get a job in the industry some day.”

Pianka is Montserrat’s first Animation and Interactive Media graduate and we couldn’t be happier for him and his many accomplishments!
