Caddy Cicogna (’19) to Receive Art Educator Award

February 4, 2020

Congratulations to Montserrat alum Caddy Cicogna (’19), who has been named to receive the 2020 Eastern Region Preservice Art Educator award by the National Art Education Association. The recipient of the award is decided through peer review and recognizes “exemplary contributions, service, and achievements of an outstanding NAEA member.” The award will be presented later this year at the NAEA National Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota, March 26-28.

“This award is being given to recognize excellence in professional accomplishment and service by a dedicated art educator,” says NAEA President Thom Knab. “Caddy Cicogna exemplifies the highly qualified art educators active in education today: leaders, teachers, students, scholars, and advocates who give their best to their students and the profession.”

Founded in 1947, the National Art Education Association is a leading professional membership organization for visual arts educators. Members include elementary and secondary school visual arts educators, university professors and students, teaching artists, administrators, and art museum educators—as well as more than 54,000 students who are members of the National Art Honor Society.

Only two months ago, Caddy was involved in an art education senior thesis exhibition in Montserrat Gallery, “Exit Ticket,” which showcased k – 12 student work from schools where Montserrat’s art education students had been instructing.
