Alyssa Watters (‘07) Featured on WCVB
Montserrat alumna and former trustee Alyssa Watters was recently featured in a segment on channel 5 news! WVCB anchor and reporter Doug Meehan stopped by her Beverly shop, Art By Alyssa to interview her about her experience as a Mass-made entrepreneur.
The interview was part of Meehan’s ongoing segment, Made in Massachusetts, where he highlights “local companies that are making creative, new and classic products here in the Bay State.” Watters’ shop had actually been featured on the station previously, as part of a Chronicle holiday segment in 2016.
The station once again found Watters with the winter in mind. Despite the muggy August heat, Art By Alyssa is in full production mode to prepare for the ever-approaching holiday season. As Meehan explains in the segment, Watters has put her art on everything “from hot plates to key chains, and from calendars to colorful cuff bracelets, her art has found a home in homes all across the globe — including as far away as Japan.”
Watters said of the experience, “I had a lot of fun with Doug and the videographer, Karen. I’ve already seen a boom in business from it, as well as new followers on social media and customers coming to explore the shop. I’m really thankful to WCVB for reaching out to me.”
