Alumni Update from Heidi Daub

July 19, 2013

Alumna Heidi Daub ’82 is happy to announce her inclusion among the artists represented by Gleason Fine Art, of Boothbay and Portland Maine. Dennis and Martha Gleason have been running their gallery for over 25 years, showing a wide range of 19th-21st century fine art. She has six pieces there, among them House Of Sun, and Where The Creek Runs with two more pieces arriving late in July.

Closer to home, the former Leighton Gallery in Blue Hill, was purchased by fellow artist and 10 x 8 member Cynthia Winings who has continued the tradition of showing contemporary fine art in Blue Hill through the Cynthia Winings Gallery.  The current show, “Beauty Abounds”, includes artists from Maine and New York. She currently is representing six of Daub’s pieces.  If you are in Blue Hill, take a moment to stop in and see the new look of the gallery!

This weekend Daub will be a participant in the Blue Hill Public Library’s third annual Paint the Peninsula event, a “fresh paint silent auction” to be held on Saturday, July 20th, from 4:30 – 7 pm, at the Library. From their promo, “Over 60 artists will start that day with blank canvases, and transform them into gorgeous views, using locations all over the Blue Hill Peninsula as their inspiration. Finished works will be brought to the Library in the early afternoon, when the library will be transformed into a gigantic art gallery.” For more information visit Paint The Peninsula

Aug 21 – 27, sculptor Goody-B Wiseman and Daub will be curating/hosting a show in Northeast Harbor.  This is shaping up to be a wonderful week long exhibit.

Looking ahead to October, poet Leonore Hildenbrandt will be teaming up for the Belfast Poetry Festival’s  9th annual “A Poem To Behold”, showcasing collaborative work between visual artists and writers. Featured will be live readings of original poetry with a simultaneous projection of original artwork onto three large screens in a fast paced (6 minutes each team) Pecha Kucha style presentation. The weekend festival will take placein Belfast, Maine, Oct. 18 – 19.
