Alumni News: Margaurita Spear ’09 Illustrates for Art Education Book

October 16, 2015

Alumna Margaurita Spear ’09 has been selected to create an illustration for the book “If Picasso Went to the Zoo” by fellow art teacher, Eric Gibbons. This book was conceived, written and illustrated by 50 art teachers from all over the world who share a passion for art history and teaching. The book includes emulations of so many great artists as a terrific teaching resource for art educators. It is also a fun read for anyone. Each illustration is accompanied by a poem about the artist whose work is represented.

Spear’s contribution (found on page 51) is a chimpanzee modeled after realist artist Gustave Courbet’s painting “Portrait of a Mad Man”.
