Alumna Kate Gorham’s Golden Button

October 31, 2011

Kate Gorham ’04, an award-winning artist, illustrator, muralist and portrait painter, has opened a shop called The Golden Button in Southbury, CT, where she resides, to support local artists!

The Golden Button is devoted to handmade and locally-made arts and crafts. It also features some carefully chosen vintage items. “I’ve always loved vintage items and antique things, so I have tried to give them new life,” said Gorham. “In this day and age it is impossible to buy only locally made items.” Read Country Times’ full story here…

When Gorham isn’t running her new shop, she is an art teacher at the Creative Arts Studio in Woodbury, CT where she has worked for three years. She has also painted murals in New Haven, and worked as a wedding planner.

The Golden Button, located at 600 South Britain Road in Southbury, is open Tuesday – Friday from 1:30 – 7 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon – 5 p.m. For more information, call 203-910-9948 or visit the site at
