A New Florida Gallery for Sigrid Olsen

February 28, 2011

Designer and artist, Sigrid Olsen ’74 has long been known for her vibrant color, island imagery, and distinctive textile prints. After the close of her fashion line in 2008, Sigrid has re-invented her career by returning to her roots as an artist and taking her feel-good brand into new products and venues. Now, for the first time, her fresh and appealing artwork will be available in Sarasota.

A  love of tropical climates led her to seek a second home for  Sigred Olsen Art, where she could complement the activity of her summer gallery in Gloucester, Massachusetts with a winter location in the sun. She has effortlessly forged an integration of art, wellness and retail in her new life and now she brings her happy outlook to Florida’s gulf coast.

One of the most distinctive aspects of Sigrid’s art gallery is the intimacy she establishes with her customers, engaging in conversation, sharing her upbeat personal philosophy and, best of all, happily creating custom-made paintings, ceramics and prints for all kinds of special occasions. Her signature “Lovebirds” and “Kissing Fish” platters are customer favorites for weddings and showers, complete with hand written inscriptions on the back with the couple’s name. She has a whimsical collection of “alphabets” that can also be personalized. To view her entire line of hand-made items, visit the website www.sigridolsenart.com.

The Sarasota gallery is set to open the week of March 7th with a grand opening reception on Friday, March 11 from 5-8 pm. The public is invited.
