At the Paul M. Scott Library our aim is to inspire life-long learning and promote information literacy in our students and faculty through exceptional library services and collections. The Library at Montserrat College of Art supports the educational mission of the College through the acquisition, care of, and access to print, electronic, and audiovisual materials which meet the intellectual needs of our community.

The Library at Montserrat College of Art is named in honor of Paul M. Scott, one of the founding faculty members of the College. In addition to teaching courses Paul M. Scott was the founder of the library through his generous donation of art books in 1979.

Today the library has grown significantly and is at the heart of the campus. The collection contains carefully selected print and non-print materials, including over 15,000 books and subscriptions to more than 90 periodicals in the visual arts, art history and creative writing.

The Library also maintains Special Collections available for study comprised of Artists’ Books and unique publications from the nineteenth century. Materials from the Special Collections and Archives are often on exhibit in the library; the Library also holds exhibitions of student, alumni, and faculty work.
