Are you a high school junior, senior or recent graduate interested in taking your involvement in the arts to the next level? Want to boost your chances of being accepted into your dream art school? Alumnus, artist and Assistant Professor Len Thomas-Vickory will work individually with you and classmates to prepare a strong portfolio based on the guidelines of the art institutions you are interested in applying to. We will work with a variety of materials focusing on two-dimensional methods and working to address the requirements of the college from observational drawing to abstract collage and painting. To compliment the studio aspect of this course, we will also discuss the importance of a well-written artist statement and college essay. Juniors will leave the class with a significant start to their portfolio with a strong idea of what needs to be done to continue the development of their portfolio. Seniors will leave the class with a more streamlined and organized presentation of their portfolio specified towards individual schools. This class will require at home and in class work.
