Montserrat Recognized as the Epicenter of Encaustic Painting

Boston’s prestigious PBS station WGBH-TV has documented the just-concluded 4th International Encaustic Painting Conference, held at Montserrat College of Art. In a special segment on  “Greater Boston with Emily Rooney” show aired Thursday, July 8, the station recognized the college for its first-in-the-nation, Encaustic Conference, directed by Joanne Mattera, which brings an international audience to Montserrat’s Beverly, MA campus.

WGBH-TV will feature a segment on Montserrat College of Art’s Annual Encaustic Painting Conference, on Thursday, July 8 at 7 pm.  The segment will air on the “Greater Boston with Emily Rooney” show.

President Steve Immerman is interviewed by reporter Jared Bowen for an upcoming segment on "Greater Boston with Emily Rooney" featuring the college's annual Encaustic Painting Conference.

Leonie Bradbury, Director of the Gallery and Visiting Artists' Program, is interviewed about the origins of Encaustic Art and how Montserrat's annual conference draws an international audience each June.

Artist Julie Shaw Lutts of Salem, an artist who works in encaustic, stands with President Steve Immerman following her demonstrations of encaustic painting for the "Greater Boston with Emily Rooney" show.

Nate Walker Appeared on WGBH

Nate Walker, alumnus and Illustration faculty member, was one of two artists doing a live painting during the WGBH on-air fundraiser. The topic was Curious George.

The event was Saturday, May 22 between 6 pm and 9 pm on WGBH-2.
